Zika virus cases reported in Kerala:
• In the middle of the surge in covid-19 cases in State, Kerala has confirmed its first case of Zika virus, which is also a mosquito-borne viral infection.
• 13 person’s samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune, suspected to be positive with Zika virus.

Exported GI certified Madurai Jasmine Flowers to US and Dubai:
• On July 8, 2021, Geographical Indications (GI) certified Madurai jasmine, and other traditional flowers like lily, button rose, and chamanthi were exported to the United States and United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Tamil Nadu.
• This export will complete the necessity of the Indian diaspora for fresh flowers for deities at home and temples.

Recent Study finds Over 7 lakh deaths per year in India linked to abnormal temperatures:
• According to the study released by Lancet Planetary Health Journal, Annually, about 740,000 access deaths in India are linked to abnormally hot and cold temperatures due to climate change.
• The study was organized by an international team, led by researchers at Monash University in Australia.
