Common Survey: Tigers and Elephants
• From December as a common survey, India will adopt a system that will count elephants and tigers.
• On August 12, this announcement was made on the occasion of World Elephant Day.

• On 12th August, Pakistan successfully test-fired a surface to surface nuclear-capable ballistic missile named Ghaznavi.
• This test was aimed to make sure operational readiness of Army strategic forces command. Also, this launch was mainly focused at validating again the parameters of the weapon system.

Export of 5 Varieties of Apple:
• APEDA in collaboration with HPMC (Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation Ltd) has exported the first shipment of 5 special varieties of apples in order to promote agricultural and processed meals goods exports to more recent destinations.
• Apple export started at a time when India has expanding its footprint of mango exports in more countries.

• The Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS-4) was initiated by the Health Minister.
• According to the survey, in India, more than 29% of college students were uncovered to second-hand smoke.
• Also, in the past decade, there has been a 42% turn down in tobacco use among 13-15-year-old schoolchildren.
