IIT Delhi, DRDO scientists received National Award
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Scientists and IIT-Delhi received National Award for Young Women Showing Brilliance through Application of Technology for Societal Benefits.
Dr. Shweta Rawat:
Dr. Shweta Rawat from DRDO, Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), Timarpur, Delhi was received an award for the discovery of female-specific Full Body Protector. The device mainly designed to safeguard the Female troops deployed in riot control actions. The gear has been technologically advanced in collaboration with the Rapid Action Force using the ergonomic design principle based on anthropometric dimensions specific for female troops. It has unique properties, including flame retardant, anti-stab, anti-puncture, and acid resistance. It assures greater comfort and flexibility to the women forces while deployed in law and order maintenance duties.
Dr. Shalini Gupta:
Dr.Shalini Gupta from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, was awarded for the development of a technology SeptifloTM. It provides a fast and cheap assay for the treatment of bacterial septicemia and point-of-care diagnosis. She is pursuing alternative approaches to design novel bio-systems for medical diagnosis, drug delivery, and biomaterials fabrication on a chip through the start-up Nano DX Healthcare Pvt.

General Election of Sri Lankan to be held on 25 April
Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapksa dissolved the parliament on 2 March. He called for general elections on 25 April 2020. President is permitted to dissolve the parliament after four and a half years of its first sitting.

Indian-American Seema Verma was appointed as a key member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. It was constituted by US President Donald Trump. The appointment was of Seema Verma, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced by the US Vice President Mike Pence. Also, Robert Wilkie, Secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs has been added to the task force.
